Biker Boss | Fabienne Phillips of Girl Torque.cc - MERLA MOTO

As a female-led business in a male-dominated industry, there’s nothing we love to hear more than a wholesome tale of #womensupportingwomen.

Fabienne Phillips is a Sydney-based motorcycle instructor and founder of Girl Torque.cc. She’s been helping women ride safe and build their confidence on the roads for three years.

Fabienne loves the empowerment, freedom, individualism and adrenalin that she finds through riding. Above all else, she loves that unique sensation of being completely enthralled in the moment when riding a motorcycle.

Fabienne rides a Triumph Street Triple 675 and recently got her hands on her dream bike; a BMW S1000RR which she’s modified with an Akrapovic exhaust. The BMW S1000RR is a sport bike that was initially made to compete in the 2009 Superbike World Championship, so you can imagine the power in that thing!

Early Riding Days

After spending her childhood between the country and city, where she was able to roam paddocks and driveways in the Mobylette, Fabienne took her driving test.

Rather than feeling liberated by the achievement of getting her license, Fabienne found the experience isolating and sought help from her partner, who was immensely helpful as a guide and instructor. She began to wonder how many other women were experiencing the same thing but didn’t have the support of an experienced rider in their lives.

Fabienne’s early riding experiences inspired Girl Torque.cc. Fabienne became determined to design a business to transform the way female motorbike riders feel and act on the road. She became a motorcycle instructor and began to provide access to individually tailored rider training in the Greater Sydney region.

Riding Through Italy, Sardinia and Corsica

Fabienne’s career highlight to date has been a motorcycle adventure through Italy, Sardinia and Corsica. She finds that travelling the roads and enjoying incredible scenery from two wheels is incredibly inspiring and the best way to see a destination.

Upon her trip through Italy, Sardinia and Corsica, Fabienne enjoyed the roads she describes as “twistie heaven” and “food and scenery extravaganza”. She particularly enjoyed the fact that she was able to finesse her cornering skills by the end of the trip.

Pizza, pasta, vino, motorbikes. Doesn’t sound too bad to us.
